Peter Andrew, Jr.
Commercial Fisherman
Peter Andrew, Jr. is a Yupik commercial fisherman. He was born and raised in New Stuyahok Village and is a former president of New Stuyahok Ltd., a Native Alaskan village corporation. Peter currently lives in Dillingham on the shores of Bristol Bay, where he has fished for salmon since 1978. He also owns and operates a charter sport fishing boat and serves on the community advisory board of American Seafoods, one of the largest U.S.-based seafood distributors.
Peter is also heavily involved in and dedicated to supporting the Elders of his community. He previously worked with Elders through the City of Dillingham as well. He plans, develops and implements nutritional and supportive services for Native elders across 21 villages. Peter is president of the Nushagak Telephone & Electric Coop and a former board member of the Bristol Bay Coastal Resource Service Agency.
"We must protect resources for future generations," he said.
